So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 31 - Die Hard
Sunday Dec 12, 2010
Sunday Dec 12, 2010
DIE HARD! DIE HARDER!! DIE HARDEST!!!!!! Yup. J and K take a trip to Nakatomi Plaza (Origami Tower?) and watch and discuss the "heart-stopping" (palpitation-y?) movie starring Bruce Willis, the mom from Parenthood, and Snape from Harry Potter. Nothing's too off-topic for our daring duo, not even discussions about hypothetical terrorism at My Gym, the structural soundness of an actual Origami Tower, and the magic of car phones! This podcast is rated PG-13, once again, for liberal use of the word 'douchebag.'

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 30 - Mixed Nuts/Roxanne
Saturday Dec 04, 2010
Saturday Dec 04, 2010
On this week's 'So I Married a Movie Geek,' J and K hit a bittersweet note: mourning a loss in the family, they cheer up by watching a Steve Martin double feature: Mixed Nuts and Roxanne. Krissy's all about the cast, characters and farcical nature of Mixed Nuts (especially when it comes to hiding dead bodies as Christmas trees), but Justin's really just about loving Madeline Kahn Liev Schreiber's scarf dancing and Roooooxxxaaanne, in general. Also discussed: Steve Martin's love for art and the Y, the pros/cons of poor people getting rhinoplasty, a brief foray into Avatar/Titanic and why The Police should've included 'Roxanne' in Roxanne. Rated PG-13 for Krissy's unnecessary use of the words crap and douchebag (sorry, Mamaw).

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 29 - Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Friday Nov 26, 2010
Friday Nov 26, 2010
It's a family affair for a very special Thanksgiving episode of SIMAMG! After a fantastic Turkey Day dinner (sans turkey) and a LOT of wine, we welcome Justin's dad Monty to L.A. and the podcast to watch the 1987 classic, Planes, Trains and Automobiles! The spirited discussion that followed includes many issues with numbers, times and calendars, an explanation for last week's lost Footloose episode, Krissy's vendetta against briefs, Monty's review of coin-operated beds, talk of Ed Grimley and Glee, the anxiety of driving in San Francisco, much love for Steve Martin and John Candy and MORE!!! This episode is PG-13! Don't drink and drive, kids. Just stay at home and make a podcast with your fam.

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 28 - Edward Scissorhands/Innerspace
Friday Nov 12, 2010
Friday Nov 12, 2010
This week's double feature includes two older movies with nothing much in common besides the fact that one of us had never seen either of them before: Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Joe Dante's Innerspace (1987)!!! We basically watch both flicks and start imagining what it would be like to have gigantic scissors for hands OR what we'd do if we were dying of a gunshot wound at the same time that we had our miniaturized friend in a syringe at a shopping mall. You know, regular day to day stuff. We also discuss Johnny Depp's performance, Winona Ryder's hair, early Tim Burton, Meg Ryan's face, musical theater mishaps and more. This podcast is rated PG!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 27 - Heathers
Saturday Nov 06, 2010
Saturday Nov 06, 2010
Strap yourselves in, keep hands and legs inside the vehicle at all times, kids... Cause things are about to get VERY. Christian Slater! Winona Ryder! Shannen Doherty! KRISSY'S MOM!! Yes, along with Very Special Guest Cathy MacQueen, Krissy & Justin view 'Heathers,' and subsequently discuss the movie's light & dark sides, symbolism, Slater's Jack-Nicholson-esque qualities, and... scampi. Plus something about Bette Davis, stroke victims, $4M worth of water and the merits of strip croquet. This podcast is rated PG-13... And AWESOME.

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 26 - Paranormal Activity 1 and 2
Wednesday Oct 27, 2010
Wednesday Oct 27, 2010
It's a PARANORMAL double feature on the podcast for the last week of (Scary Movie) October! (insert spooky music) LOUD NOISES!!!! For episode 26, we dissect last year's super-successful Paranormal Activity and the just released Paranormal Activity 2. What did Krissy think of the two after seeing both for the very first time this week? Did adding a baby, a fearful Mexican housekeeper and a dog to the mix mean that more stuff actually, you know, happens in the sequel? What could the third entry in the Paranormal series possibly bring? Be careful because spoilers may jump out of nowhere! This podcast is rated PG-13!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 25 - Candyman/Child's Play
Thursday Oct 21, 2010
Thursday Oct 21, 2010
Scary movie double feature time - yet again! This week, we take on the Chicago-based twosome of Candyman (1992) and Child's Play (1988)!! First time up, what scared Krissy more? A tall creepy black man with a bloody hook or a foul-mouthed kid's doll? OR...BOTH? The spirited discussion that followed includes the danger of talking to mirrors, BEES!!!!, Candyman's booming voice and sexy wordplay, choosing a frightening thesis in grad school, Virginia Madsen aflame, what toys we'd personally import our spirits into, little people in masks, terrible terrible cops, voodoo dolls, how to really destroy dolls and "is that the end" endings!!! This podcast is rated PG-13!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 24 - A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984 and 2010)
Wednesday Oct 13, 2010
Wednesday Oct 13, 2010
It's a Freddy Krueger double feature! Yep...continuing our scary movie theme for October, Krissy is forced for the very first time to watch A Nightmare On Elm Street the 1984 original and A Nightmare On Elm Street the 2010 reboot. Which one passed, which one failed the horror grade and why? The discussion includes how frightening both movies actually are (or aren't), the merits of Freddy synth and Freddy fog, the Freddys and Nancys of both films, Johnny Depp's staying awake skills, random Dr. Oz tidbits, the most memorable death scenes, funny background posters and MORE. One, two, Freddy's coming for you. Three, four, this podcast is rated PG-13!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 23 - Jaws
Thursday Oct 07, 2010
Thursday Oct 07, 2010
JAWS has finally been seen!!! (sirens!!!) How did Krissy go almost twenty-something years without seeing the 1975 Steven Spielberg classic? And why?!?!? Well at least she finally bit the GREAT WHITE SHARK bullet. The discussion that ensues includes talk about the movie's effect on ocean-swimming, Krissy's favorite Roy Scneider performance before JAWS, our 2 favorite scenes, the allure of Shark Week, the real villain of JAWS, punching sharks in the face, Quint's classic intro, Richard Dreyfuss's IMDB page perusal, the shark helicopter photo and MORE! Don't worry, grandmothers out there. This podcast episode is rated PG!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 22 - Savannah Smiles
Thursday Sep 30, 2010
Thursday Sep 30, 2010
How obscure can we really go? How about a 1982 kids film about a precocious little rich girl who's inadvertently kidnapped by a pair of bumbling convicts? Savannah Smiles, anyone? No? The movie's up on You Tube for your viewing...pleasure? For this episode, we even have a very special guest who just so happens to be a blood relative...Justin's mom. So his movie obsession can be partly attributed to her. We all three discuss the reason why this peculiar film was chosen, our varying love for Alvie and Boots, runaway kids in the movie and in real life, throwing melons at convenience store owners, Bridgette Andersen's performance and sad death, lots of love for Pat Morita and Peter Graves, the rousing soundtrack and more. This podcast is rated PG! Keepin' it clean, folks.
