Episode 81 - Young Adult/The Descendants
Wednesday Dec 14, 2011
Wednesday Dec 14, 2011
Christmas came early this year, folks - in the form of awards screeners! So many screeners, so little time... How will J and K ever watch them all? This week your favorite Movie Geek couple gets all nostalgic with movies that vaguely remind them of their own lives: Young Adult and The Descendants. Cause, you know, we totally have some rich, royal ancestors that left us with acres and acres of virgin Hawaiian land. Just thinking about it gives us Kushlash. That or a hangover. We can't really remember how much we drank last night with our friend Patton Oswalt. Oh well! Also, Charlize Theron and George Clooney! Wowzers. But please listen to this week's podcast. It's a roller coaster ride filled with amazingly wonderful wrong turns down KenTacoHut lane. And it's rated PG! So there.

SPIELBERG DOUBLE FEATURE, y'all! Yes, we're catching senioritis in terms of the holidays, we missed a early screening of War Horse and we decided to rectify that by exposing Krissy to a two-fer of The Steve's output from the Aughts: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) and A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)! One Krissy almost fell asleep during (big surprise!) and the other's viewing was Justin's only 2nd time seeing it since the 1st time being one of the saddest movie-going experiences of his life. Ain't that a bucketful of smiles? You know what didn't make either of us smile in these 2 movies? The endings! WHAT IN THE WORLD??!?!?!? Am I right or am I right? We also discuss CGI that makes us want to die, LeBarf, Cate Blanchett's accent, the most indestructible fridge in history, not-hispanic quadruple crossers, Haley Joel Awesome?, kickass robotic bears ("It will break!"), Kubrickberg, douchey bros and much more! We might have even kept things PG! Just maybe.

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 79 - J. Edgar/Contagion/Fright Night
Monday Nov 28, 2011
Monday Nov 28, 2011
As you sit and rub your swollen post-Thanksgiving bellies, we here at So I Married a Movie Geek would like to remind you that though the holiday is over, there is still so much to be thankful for... Vegas trips and GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS!, the fact that you don't live right next to a vampire (even if he does look like Colin Farrell), the inalienable right to touch your face 40,000 times a day (and a governmental investigative agency who's willing to go to all the trouble of cataloging every time you poke your punim), and Leonardo DiCaprio in both a fat suit and a dress. At the same time. I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP, PEOPLE. Or perhaps you're not thankful for all of these things; perhaps you're at a low point in your life. Perhaps you're just waiting for Robert Redford to walk into your life and offer you $5M (adjusted for inflation) for the pleasure of sleeping with your significant other. Cause after all, that'd be so money, baby... Or not. Perhaps you're just waiting to finish reading this so you can get on with the business of listening to this week's J. Edgar / Contagion / Fright Night podcast, with special side reviews of Swingers and Indecent Proposal. Yep. That sounds more like it. Please enjoy our Thanksgiving hodgepodge podcast - it'll fill your heart in much the same way that your octogenarian Grandma's fruitcake fills your stomach. Rated PG-13(ish)!

Ever ridden on a train? Ever thought of throwing your mother off of one...? If you said 'no,' great - we can still be friends! But if you said 'yes,' we might have to get all Beverly Hills Cop on yo' punk ass! And it won't be pretty… I'm talking about bananas up the tailpipe, people. (Literally!) But whether you're of the murdering or bystanding persuasion, you should really listen on -- as we critically navigate the murky water surrounding this year's Oscar host hopefuls' past. Was Eddie Murphy funny, once upon a pre-Klumps time? Does Billy Crystal sit at home nowadays dreaming up ways to ressurect his career push the Oscar host down the stairs Showgirls style? All discussed in this week's podcast! That, and fecal transplants (they exist!), peeing in sweats (a urinal how-to), and adventures in profanity (Krissy gets mad)! This podcast should probably be rated 'R.' ;-}

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 77 - Crazy, Stupid, Love/Center Stage
Tuesday Nov 08, 2011
Tuesday Nov 08, 2011
It's a special birthday edition of So I Married a Movie Geek this week, kids! Krissy was in the hot seat this time, and turned the podcast on its head by choosing two movies she had seen, but Justin hadn't -- this year's Crazy, Supid Love and a 2000 high school favorite, Center Stage! Indeed, it was the perfect storm of Krissy's favorite things: dancing, love triangles, comedic family dysfunction, and Ryan Gosling with his shirt off. Fun was had by all... But especially the birthday girl. Join us as we discuss the virtues of The Gos (yes, again), how to avoid/evade windowless white vans, Ethan Stiefel as Anthony Michael Hall in dance-tastic disguise, Justin's Charlie Brown shirt (and why we should probably burn it), and why Sascha Radetsky is hyper-mono-focused on TAKING WHAT YOU FEEL AND DANCING IT. This ever-so-fun episode is rated PG-13. Now let's get outta here.

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 76 - It/Pet Sematary
Tuesday Nov 01, 2011
Tuesday Nov 01, 2011
Stephen King Halloween double feature, kids! Yup. Krissy had somehow avoided these 2 flicks for waaaaaaay too long: It (1990) and Pet Sematary (1989). She even thought one of them was a comedy until this weekend. So, like we do, we watched both of them and "discussed" them over wine and the saddest, saddest Skittles. Oh yeah. The good stuff. You know how it is. Listen as we jump from random subject to random subject. Chatter babble like: IT kids vs. IT adults, Pennywise The Clown, clowns in general, "Remember Our Pact" phone calls, cockroach puke tubs and rats, Jonathan Brandis' golden tresses, Ladybugs!!!, the ending of IT, anti-coma bike rides, Dr. Mistakes, Maximum Overdrive Drive, creepy but quite talkative kid zombies, not-Mr. Wizard, Edward Furlong, zombie dogs, zombie Justin, etc. We even list our worst (and most embarrassing) Halloween costumes of the past. Rated PG-15 for mature-ish audiences!

Picture it: you're lost in the woods with no map, very little food, and you're down a man. It's been five days, and unless something changes, death seems imminent. WHAT DO YOU DO?? If you answered 'set a forest fire and run up a flame retardant tree' or 'follow the circular creek to freedom!' you could be the next guest on So I Married a Movie Geek! Yup, J and K have it all figured out, kids. All they need now is to fashion an oscillating fan into a standalone panning camera to catch some grandpa ghosts, and they'll be set! This podcast is rated PG-13 15+ due to in-depth discussions about witches, ghosts, bloody mary and rape closets. ...Truly, there are no words.

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 74 - Footloose/The Ides of March
Monday Oct 17, 2011
Monday Oct 17, 2011
We invite a real live human being (and a real hero) to the podcast this week and man oh man....do we start drinking wine early. LOTS OF WINE. Cheap glorious wine. Our favorite critic, Grae Drake of The Popcorn Mafia (and Movies Dot Com) fame, guests for the 2nd time to go head to head with Krissy for a rather balanced edition of CLOONEY VS. GOSLING: HOTTIE OFF. Plus, we discuss the brand new Footloose and whether it's worth a look, celebrity hair makeovers, trips to Romania, lost Blu-ray features, talking with Steven Bauer/Rhea/Wright, being in the near vicinity of Clooney's tractor beams, DRIVE and its soundtrack, taking pee breaks during movies, couple celeb cheat lists, All The President's Men and much much more! Rated R for mature audiences!

This generation may be gaga over Robert Pattinson, but really, who are we kidding? It’s all about Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise… and Gary Oldman? Yup – Halloween came early this month, folks, as J and K embrace all things Nosferatu. Also, Nosferatu may or may not be an anagram for something rather insidious and odoriferous that kept making its way into the podcast… Could it be FOG?! Enjoy your favorite Movie Geek couple’s dissection of ‘Interview With the Vampire’ and ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ (not to be confused with Braaahhhhham Stroker’s version). Find out which vamp J has a healthy man crush on and which movie scared/scarred Kris so deeply as a child that she put off seeing the whole thing until now. Join us for this week’s podcast, won’t you? It’s really something you can seek your teeth into. MWAHAHAHAHA! (Rated PG-13)

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 72 - Triangle/Twilight Zone: The Movie
Wednesday Oct 05, 2011
Wednesday Oct 05, 2011
You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of rambling, caffienated conversation about 2 movies that Krissy has never seen; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination and pure aural sexiness. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Triangle/Twilight Zone: The Movie episode of SIMAMG! The discussion includes the 2 of us trying to make sense (and not quite succeeding) of Triangle's plot, K's personal problems with time management, the hilarious fun of time loops, rating the TZ vignettes most fave to least, the Twilight Zone movie's tragic helicopter accident, "Kick The Can," LITHGOW and much more! Rated PG-13 b/c we randomly discuss Aunt Flo!
