So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 51 - Tootsie/The Last of Sheila
Monday May 09, 2011
Monday May 09, 2011
AN ALL-MOM PROGRAMMED EPISODE! Yup. Since Krissy wouldn't agree to seeing either Thor or Fast Five (insert highly disappointed head shake here), this week we celebrated Mother's Day by watching 2 of our moms' favorite movies of all time: Tootsie (1982) and The Last of Sheila (1973)!! One of which Justin had never seen himself. Spoiler warning: at one point we completely lose it and then we lose it several more times. Our minds, what we're supposed to be talking about, etc. A lot of it is due to Krissy's shocking admissions about her "narcolepsy" AND her lack of knowledge about a popular board game. See? There's a clue. Annnnd now you know which one. The discussion also includes the First (And Last) Annual Tootsie-Off. It's all rated PG-13, like usual-ish! Thanks for listening!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 50 - Being John Malkovich/Memento
Tuesday May 03, 2011
Tuesday May 03, 2011
FIFTY EPISODES! Yeeeeaaahhh! We (somehow) made it! We celebrate by watching two fantastic movies that Krissy had managed to avoid for long enough: Being John Malkovich and Memento!! Why did she erroneously think both movies starred Tom Cruise? Whose portal would we each use for 15 minutes and why? Do we hit our one-Titanic-mention-per-episode mark? Does Krissy have short-term memory disorder like Guy Pearce's character? What the hell really happened in Memento? Does anyone really know? This episode is rated PG-13 for several unnecessary references to porpoise sex!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 49 - Requiem For A Dream/The Rules of Attraction
Wednesday Apr 27, 2011
Wednesday Apr 27, 2011
Are you MEGA SUPER DEPRESSED? Do you want to hear Justin get berated for picking one of the most downer movies in the last 20 years to watch this week? OF COURSE YOU DO, right? Well that's what we were working with as we belatedly paired 2000's 'Requiem For A Dream' and 2002's 'The Rules of Attraction' for an honest-to-goodness, slit-your-wrists double feature! (insert heavy sigh here) Like many episodes, this week's left us with more questions than answers! Like...what is Jared Leto's major malfunction? Why wasn't 'Requiem' filmed with more happy colors? Should we visit our mothers more? Electro-shock therapy? Like, for reals? What if Candyman attended the famous double-sided sex toy party? Why is Dawson Leery so angry-face? Is puking during sex grounds for a punch in the jaw? Which 'Rules' character does Krissy hate the least? This episode's language calls for a PG-13 rating but the subject matter throughout makes it highly R-rated! So you've been warned!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 48 - Scream 4/Sleepaway Camp
Tuesday Apr 19, 2011
Tuesday Apr 19, 2011
Scream 4...was it worth the wait? Does it live up to the promise began by the first Scream? Or does it continue in the gutterball tradition of the ultra-crappy Scream 3? We cut to the chase of the meta matter in this slicing and dicing podcast episode! PLUS...we subject Krissy to a cult classic from 1983 (aka the year of her birth) for the very 1st time: SLEEPAWAY CAMP. Oh yeaaaaahhhhh! You're either on this crazy train or you're blowin' up on it in multiple dimensions, Gyleenhaal-style! The podcast discussion includes a debate over which Scream entry actually sucked the most, Ghostface apps and calling centers, the original trio then and now, Sidney's beleagured extended family, Hayden Panetierre's 12 pack, taking a crap vs. taking a shower and ANGELA: Staring Champion of The World. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. This podcast is remarkably rated PG-13!

Monday Apr 11, 2011
Well, we finally jumped the 80s shark, kids... with our first-ever TRIPLE FEATURE. Behold "Stand By Me," "Adventures in Babysitting," and "SpaceCamp" in all their noodle-curled, get-a-grip let's-go-look-for-a-dead-body GLORY!!* ("Glorious," incidentally, is not an adjective we'd use to describe one of these movies... Can ya guess which one??) It's a fun time this week, kids -- join us as we recount skewed stories from our childhoods, including 'A Tree Grows in the Sand Backyard,' and 'I REALLYREALLYREALLY Wanted To Go To Space Camp, Ideally with Elisabeth Shue.' This podcast is a healthy and hearty PG-13. So don't have a cow, man!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 46 - Source Code/Insidious
Monday Apr 04, 2011
Monday Apr 04, 2011
It's new movie DOUBLE FEATURE time, y'all!!!! We pull an illegal transfer to see 2 brand new films opening this weekend, SOURCE CODE and INSIDIOUS!!! Could this finally be the week in which we don't totally hate either movie? During the scintillating hour of cinematic discussion, we delve into our rambling thoughts on Jake Gyllenhaal, loud 12-year-olds during movies, Quantum Leap, movie scores, Dunkin Donuts, parallel realities, haunted houses, Ghost Grandma, Rose Byrne's musical skills, Viewmasters, evading photos, ghost stenography and much MORE!! We even save the major end-of-movie SPOILERS for both films until the very end! This podcast goes bump in the dark but only in the PG-13 kind of way!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 45 - Burlesque/Cry-Baby
Tuesday Mar 29, 2011
Tuesday Mar 29, 2011
"If I could turn around this cluuuuuuub!" What do you get when you cross a sober-ish Christina Aguilera, shiny-faced Cher and TUCCI (!!!!!) with John Waters' twisted version of Grease starring Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop and one of Justin's childhood crushes? THIS WEEK'S PODCAST, y'all. It's a musical-ish double feature with Burlesque and Cry-Baby (1990), 2 movies only a gay man with questionable taste in movies would love. Truth: we didn't hate them. But we didn't love them. Basically, we were stuck in the OK Zone on both. "Hiiiiiiighwaaay to the OK Zoooone." But don't take our word for it. Listen yourself. You might just like it. (It's FREE!) This podcast is rated PG-13 and also contains some truly terrible impressions of Cher and Christina!

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 44 - Morning Glory/Broadcast News
Tuesday Mar 22, 2011
Tuesday Mar 22, 2011
Ahh, at last... Two movies right in Krissy's journalistic wheelhouse: "Morning Glory" and "Broadcast News!" Honestly, how she's gone this long seeing the latter is beyond us; especially since she sat in front of the poster for it every day for a year while in J-school (and apparently has a close friend who looks just like Holly Hunter). Maybe she was too busy singing with Jeff Goldblum? Either way, join us we discuss all things adorable, cretinous, and love-triangle-square-y. This podcast is rated a cautionary PG-13, for some colorful (i.e. awful) banter about date rape and Albert Brooks (aka 'whatshisname?')'s son. But not together. Cause that would be TERRIBLE. And definitely NOT what we meant.

So I Married A Movie Geek - Episode 43 - Battle:Los Angeles/Starship Troopers
Saturday Mar 12, 2011
Saturday Mar 12, 2011
Guess what? We got a fever! And the only prescription.. is more cowbell pretty people fighting aliens! First up is a movie about aliens battling Marines in a city that looks nothing like Los Angeles (WE CALL SHENANIGANS!), followed by a 90s classic involving some blonde-haired, blue-eyed Caucasian kids who claim to be from Buenos Aires. Yup, today on Ye Olde Podcast we're discussing the merits (or demerits) of "Battle: Los Angeles" and "Starship Troopers." And two very special guests, Clint Childs and Jessica Laine, stop by to give their collective four cents! Slightly bummed by our own fair city's lack of screen time in movie that has it in the freakin' title, we discuss Aaron Eckhart's butt-chin, Santa Monica, buses on the 10 freeway, other (better) aliens movies, strange slide projector weapons, our favorite character Hector, coed shower scenes, Denise Richards (and her possibly fake ta-tas) & much much more! This podcast contains a lot of ramblin' and it's rated PG-13!

ROMANCE! Action! SCIENCE FICTION! Matt Day-MON! This week, we watch one brand new movie and one older selection with a similar theme: will love survive whatever the cost?!?!?!? Through space, time and multiple doors? Even if strange guys with fedoras and Etch-A-Sketch books don't want it to! Even if the time-traveling mailbox fails to function properly! LOVE WILL CONQUER ALL! Or something. Shut up, Chair Man! It's all romantic and you can't stop it. Filled with the spirit, we discuss romantic lead chemistry, Matt Damon's political career-ness, The Adjustment A-Holes, our romantic density, Emily Blunt's unbelievable hotness, mailboxes, Frequency, time-traveling dogs & more! This podcast is rated PG-13 in the past, present and future!
